TanStarter is a commercial starter kit for TanStack Start apps that run on Cloudflare Workers, with Better Auth, Drizzle over D1, R2 file storage, and a payment layer that supports Stripe, Creem, and Waffo. It also bundles an admin dashboard, a Markdown blog, end-to-end test suites, i18n via Paraglide with English and Chinese shipped, and worked examples for AI text, image, and speech generation on TanStack AI and Workers AI. One $139 payment (down from $199) covers unlimited personal and commercial projects; there is no subscription tier. It comes from Fox, a solo maker who also runs MkSaaS, Mkdirs, MkImage, and MkExt. Note: this is a distinct, unrelated product from the free open-source TanStack Start template also called "tanstarter" at github.com/mugnavo/tanstarter.
Pros
- The stack is genuinely current rather than a React 18 kit with a new coat of paint — TanStack Start, Router, Query throughout, with a public commit feed whose latest entry is dated 15 Aug 2026, nine days before this review (24 Aug 2026).
- Cloudflare integration goes past a deploy button: D1, R2, KV, and Workers AI are all wired in, and a separate MIT-licensed CLI (tanstarter-cli, 47 stars) scaffolds those bindings and pushes the Worker, so the infra setup isn't left to you.
- Three payment providers ship side by side — Stripe, Creem, and Waffo — which matters if you're in a country where Stripe won't onboard you and most kits leave you porting the billing layer yourself.
- End-to-end tests are included, which is uncommon in this category; most kits ship zero tests and expect you to trust the checkout flow on faith.
Cons
- The public pricing page contradicts the actual product: it renders a stale Free tier, a $9.90/mo Pro tier, and three different lifetime cards, none of which match the single real $139 one-time license.
- One person maintains this alongside MkSaaS, Mkdirs, MkImage, and MkExt. That's a single point of failure for support responses, security patches, and keeping up with TanStack Start's own churn across five products.
- There's very little independent track record to check. As of this review (Aug 2026) the only third-party signals are a Product Hunt launch and a Peerlist launch, both with modest engagement; we found no Reddit or Hacker News discussion. The kit's own storefront dates to around Feb 2026 and its 200+ customers figure is vendor-reported and unaudited.
- The core repo is private until you buy, so you can't read the code or the test coverage before paying. Claims about what's inside come from the vendor's own materials, not from anything we could open and inspect.
