Achromatic is a proprietary Next.js 16 starter sold as a single $180 purchase that covers both a Prisma and a Drizzle build. It ships Better Auth (email/password, Google, TOTP 2FA), organizations with owner/admin/member roles and ownership transfer, Stripe subscriptions and one-time payments alongside a prepaid credit balance, an admin panel with user impersonation, S3 presigned uploads, Resend transactional email, and a credit-gated AI chat UI on the Vercel AI SDK. The front end is shadcn/ui and Base UI over Tailwind, with tRPC between client and server and Sentry plus Pino for errors and logs. The vendor also documents repository instructions for AI coding agents (Codex, Claude Code, Cursor) and a repository-aware MCP server, shipped per the changelog. It comes from one maker in Switzerland, and the source stays private until you pay.

- Release cadence is visible without buying: 17 changelog entries since January 2026, the most recent dated 2026-08-16, about a week before this review (Aug 2026) - though there's a roughly 5.5-month gap in the log between late January and mid-July 2026 worth knowing about
Cons
- The product repos are private, so you can't read the code or check test-suite depth before paying. The vendor does document E2E test coverage and repository instructions for AI coding agents (Codex, Claude Code, Cursor) plus a repository-aware MCP server shipped per the changelog, and a public status page and two small public utility repos exist - but none of that lets you verify code quality itself.
- No i18n, and it's a single standalone app rather than a monorepo - workable for one product, awkward if you want a marketing site plus multiple apps sharing packages
- Independent discussion is close to nonexistent as of Aug 2026: the maker was fully transparent posting under his own name on Hacker News and in a Reddit AMA about the product's own launch, but also left undisclosed third-person recommendations in other threads (e.g. a stranger's boilerplate-recommendation post) without identifying himself as the founder. The one broader roundup that includes it (a 12-kit Medium comparison, unranked) lists Achromatic's stack and pricing incorrectly, so its specific claims about the product aren't reliable.
